This was the featured painting in September 2011 “Name this Painting” Contest. I love creating abstract impressionist paintings, but have difficulty naming them because they tend to mean something different to everyone who sees them, so when I created the painting, I asked followers of Paw Print Artists to suggest titles for the painting. Thirty people responded. I then asked people to vote on the name they liked the best. The name they chose was “Solar Flare”, submitted by Mo Portley, who received a free art poster of the painting. Rick Rowen’s name was drawn at random from the list of people who suggested titles, and Scott Wolfe’s name was drawn from the list of people who voted. They both also received free posters of the painting.
